how it works

See exactly what happens, before, during and after a cohort.

Treasure Time is an eight-week, fully delivered workplace programme for cohorts of working parents. From agreeing the cohort to receiving your final impact report, Treasure Time manages the programme end to end. Here's what implementation looks like for your People team.

THE eight-WEEK EXPERIENCE

A clear rhythm from
sign-off to evidence

Your People team gets one accountable partner. Parents get a practical weekly experience. Leadership gets evidence of what changed.

Before launch

Agree success and invite the cohort

We confirm dates, define the outcome, prepare your internal communications and invite a small group of working parents.

Week 1

Set the baseline

Parents are welcomed into the cohort and complete a short baseline covering their experience, loyalty and retention sentiment, as well as parenting stress indicators and parent-child relationship metrics.

Weeks 2–7

Deliver and engage

We run the programme, engage with your employees, support participation and keep your People team updated on engagement.

Week 8 + after

Evidence you can take back to the business

We gather participant feedback, repeat agreed measures and give you a clear report showing engagement, parent experience and what changed.

Treasure Time almost gives you permission to take pressure off and to simplify things. You get more from it without realising. And then you look back and you go, ‘it’s so different now'

our approach

The CARE method

Most employers care about their working parents. Many already have good policies and benefits in place. But the experience of being a parent at work is shaped by what happens day to day: whether parenthood is visible, whether managers understand the pressures parents are navigating, whether there are opportunities to connect with others, and whether support makes a meaningful difference to life outside work.

The CARE Method helps employers close the gap between offering support and employees genuinely feeling supported.

C

Care through change

Support parents through the moments when family and working life change, including parental leave, returning to work, childcare transitions and changing family circumstances.

A

Acknowledge openly

Make parenthood visible and accepted across the organisation, so employees feel able to use the support available without worrying about how it will be perceived.

R

Real support

Offer practical support for the pressures parents are actually experiencing, including life outside work, so employer care is tangible rather than something that exists mainly in policy.

E

Equip managers

Help managers understand the realities of working parenthood and give them the confidence to bring policies and parent-supportive culture to life in everyday interactions.

frequently asked questions

Practical answers for People teams.

Need to take the case to leadership? We'll help you make it clear, commercial and measurable.

How much time does this take for employees?

The programme is deliberately light-touch: one short guided session and a simple 30-minute play practice each week. It fits into time parents already spend with their child, so it creates structure and connection without adding another demanding benefit to their list.

What support do we get as an employer?

We handle onboarding, internal communication, cohort setup, delivery and impact reporting. Managers receive practical training, your People team has a clear point of contact, and you get evidence you can use with leadership — not a programme you have to run yourself.

What’s the difference between the live and self-guided programmes?

The live programme brings a small group of working parents together for therapist-guided sessions, where they can learn, ask questions and share experiences with other parents in their organisation. They then put the learning into practice at home each week.

The self-guided programme gives parents the same core Treasure Time approach in an app-based format they can work through in their own time, making it easier to offer support to more employees or those who can’t attend scheduled sessions.

Employers can offer either option or combine the two, using live cohorts for a higher level of support and connection alongside self-guided access for greater flexibility and reach.

What happens during the programme?

Parents join a small cohort and take part in weekly therapist-guided sessions. Each week introduces practical learning that parents then use during their Treasure Time practice at home. We provide the materials, guidance and prompts to make it easy to take part.

What happens in the live sessions?

Sessions are led by a qualified play therapist and combine practical learning with space for parents to reflect, ask questions and learn alongside other working parents. Each session gives parents something specific to take into their practice at home that week.

What do parents do at home?

Parents set aside up to 30 minutes for a screen-free, child-led play practice with their child. They use the skills introduced in the programme to follow their child’s lead, pay close attention to what is happening and practise different ways of responding and connecting.

Why does Treasure Time use play?

Play is one of the main ways children communicate, explore and make sense of their experiences. Treasure Time uses child-led play as a practical setting in which parents can practise relationship skills including listening, attunement, boundaries and responding to emotions.

What comes in the Treasure Time box?

Participants receive carefully selected, therapist-approved materials designed for open-ended and imaginative play. The box means parents have what they need for their weekly practice without having to plan activities, buy materials or prepare something in advance.

How much time does Treasure Time take each week?

The core home practice is around 30 minutes once a week, alongside the guided programme session. Treasure Time is designed for busy working parents, so there is no daily homework or complicated preparation.

What ages is Treasure Time suitable for?

We adapt the programme for different developmental stages, including dedicated support for parents of younger children and primary-aged children. We’ll help you choose the right cohort structure for your workforce.

What happens if a parent misses a week?

That’s fine. Consistency is useful, but missing a week does not undo the work parents have already done. We make it easy for participants to pick the programme back up and continue, and every parent has access to our app which guides them through a weekly play practice even if they aren't able to attend the live cohort session.

Is Treasure Time suitable for neurodivergent children and parents?

Treasure Time is an approach suitable for all ages, stages, and abilities because it's a child-led approach. This means that parents or caregivers create the conditions for connective play sessions to happen, and we take the sessions at the pace of the child, while following their particular play interests. Because every child is different, every Treasure Time session will be different. We support parents to respond to their child, learn their language of connection and follow their lead.
